Dr. Holtzer is currently teaching lucky medical students and Pediatric residents in Greenville! We wish him the best!
Dr. Karl Holtzer has wanted to be a pediatrician since as long as he can remember. His mentor was his own pediatrician - Dr. Pascal Spino, who is still practicing pediatrics well into his 80s! Dr. Holtzer is originally from western Pennsylvania where he went to college at Gannon University. He then went to Medical School at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA where he graduated with honors. From there, he went on to the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh - consistently ranked as one of the top children's hospitals in the country by many of the national rankings (including US News and World Report) - where he completed his residency training. He has worked in the various fields of pediatrics - in the private sector and most recently in academics where he taught medical students and residents the art of clinical pediatrics. He's most proud of his recent induction into the Best Doctors of America database for the year 2005-2006. Dr. Holtzer and his family live in the Irmo area. He has a daughter who is 12 years old who is not only the best kid in the world, but is an avid competitive swimmer. Dr Holtzer's passions are music, theater, water sports (including kayaking) and - don't ask why - Miss America.
